Windows 3.x Support

Windows 3.x is not actively supported by DialMaine. However, if you have Windows 3.x, you may still be able to connect to our service. Our current software will not work for Windows 3.x.

If you have Windows 3.x, the first requirement to be able to connect is that you must have some kind of dialer software. Windows 3.x does not come with this software by default, however you may have installed it at some point. Trumpet Winsock and Shiva Dialer are examples of dialer software.

If you have connected to another service provider, and still have the software installed, you may be able to use it to connect to DialMaine. Please note that this does not include AOL's proprietary software.

For Shiva Dialer:

• Double click on the dialer icon to display the dialer window
• Click the Properties button
• Click on the Location tab
• Here, locate the phone number field, and enter 1-500-699-1010
• Click on the Service Provider tab
• For Primary DNS, enter: 172.16.20.20
• For Secondary DNS, enter: 172.16.21.21
• Click OK to save these settings
• Try connecting with your Shiva Dialer

For Trumpet Winsock:

Double click on Trumpet Winsock and choose Setup.

• For IP address, leave it blank, or 0.0.0.0
• For DNS server(s), enter, all on one line: 172.16.20.20 172.16.21.21
• For Domain suffix, enter dialmaine.com
• For Driver, select PPP
• Do not alter the MTU, TCP RWIN, TCP MSS, nor TCP RTO MAX.
• Click OK to save settings.
• Choose Login Profile
• For username, enter your DialMaine username, be sure to include @dialmaine.com
• Password is the password you selected.
• Phone is 1-500-699-1010
• Click OK to save settings.
• Try connecting with Trumpet Winsock
